The water reservoir feeds moisture to the grinding bit via a sponge wick. If the reservoir runs dry, the bit overheats and wears rapidly — and glass grinding without cooling produces glass dust and heat that can damage the bit and the work. Fill the reservoir before starting and check the water level every 30–40 minutes during use.
Push the glass into the bit with light, steady pressure — the diamond bit does the work. Forcing or pressing hard does not speed up grinding and risks cracking the glass at existing score lines. Move the piece slowly and let the bit remove material in passes, especially on tight inside curves.
Grinding propels micro-particles of glass and slurry toward the operator, even with the splash guard in place. Wear safety glasses or goggles during any grinding session — the included splash guard helps but is not a substitute for eye protection. A shop apron is also recommended for longer sessions.
Before returning: drain and wipe out the water reservoir, clean the work surface of glass slurry and chips, and dry the unit. Glass grinding slurry (water + fine glass particles) can scratch surfaces and stain if left to dry. A rinse with clean water and a wipe-down is all that is needed.
