360° Camera Rental Tips

01
Use the Invisible Selfie Stick

The X3’s 360° lenses stitch out the selfie stick completely — making footage look like it was shot by a drone or floating camera. Hold the stick below the camera for epic third-person follow shots, or above for a bird’s-eye view. The longer the stick, the more dramatic the effect.

02
Shoot first, frame later

The real power of 360 is that you don’t need to aim. Just mount the camera, hit record, and pick your angles in the Insta360 app afterwards. You can create multiple different shots from a single clip — wide, close-up, tracking, overhead — all from one recording.

03
Bring a fast microSD card

5.7K 360 video generates large files fast. Use a V30 or UHS-I U3 microSD card of at least 64GB — Class 10 minimum. Slower cards cause dropped frames or recording errors. A 128GB card is ideal for a full day of shooting.

04
Protect the lenses

The X3’s dual lenses protrude slightly and are the most vulnerable part of the camera. Keep the lens cap on when not shooting and consider lens guards for rugged activities. Any scratch on the lens will show up as a permanent artifact in all your footage.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need a selfie stick or can I just mount it on a tripod?

Both work well. A standard 1/4″-20 tripod mount fits the X3 directly. For the signature “floating camera” look, you’ll need the Invisible Selfie Stick — check if it’s included in your rental or rent it as an add-on. For static shots like interviews or event coverage, a tripod is perfect.

What app do I need to edit the footage?

The free Insta360 app for iOS or Android handles reframing, editing, and export on your phone. For more control, Insta360 Studio is a free desktop app for Mac and Windows. Basic edits — choosing your angles and exporting a standard video — can be done entirely on your phone in minutes.

Is it actually waterproof without a case?

Yes — the X3 is natively IPX8 waterproof to 10m (33ft) without any case or modification. You can take it swimming, in rain, or in snow straight out of the box. For deeper diving or for seamless underwater stitching you’d want the optional Dive Case, but for most water activities the camera is ready as-is.

How long does the battery last?

Approximately 80 minutes at 5.7K 360 recording in normal conditions — less in cold weather. For a full day of shooting bring at least one spare battery. The X3 charges via USB-C so you can top it up from a power bank between sessions.

Can I use it as a regular action camera without 360?

Yes — the X3 has a Single Lens mode that shoots 4K video at up to 30fps or 2.7K at 60fps from one lens only, with an extremely wide 170° field of view. It works just like a standard wide-angle action camera. Me Mode shoots a tight 60fps front-facing view ideal for vlogging and self-filming sports.
