Description
The Samson MB1 Mini Boom Stand is a compact, heavy-duty mic stand rental built for low-profile microphone placement. Its adjustable telescoping boom arm and low-set tripod base make it the go-to stand for kick drums, guitar and bass amp cabinets, floor monitors, and any sound source close to the ground.
Die-cast and steel construction handles the rigours of live performance and studio use alike. The standard 5/8″-27 threaded mic clip is included and compatible with virtually any microphone. Compact enough to tuck into a gig bag, sturdy enough to hold securely for a full show or shoot day.

Mic Stand Rental Tips
Set the boom angle and length before attaching your microphone. The MB1’s low height means small adjustments make a big difference in placement — especially for kick drums where the mic position relative to the beater hole significantly affects the sound. Get the stand positioned first, then attach and aim the mic.
The tripod base should be spread to its maximum width for best stability, especially when the boom arm is extended or angled. A partially closed base combined with a heavy mic at the end of a long boom arm is the most common cause of tip-overs. Fully opened legs give a low centre of gravity.
There are three knobs on the MB1 — height collar, boom rotation, and boom angle. Finger-tighten all three after positioning. A loose boom knob will slowly let the mic droop during a performance or shoot, changing your sound or ruining your take. It takes five seconds and saves headaches.
The included mic clip uses the universal 5/8″-27 thread found on virtually all microphone stands and clips. Any microphone with a standard clip — dynamic, condenser, ribbon, or lavalier with a clip-mount adapter — will work. The clip is a simple swivel type; use a shock mount for vibration-sensitive condensers near drums or amplifiers.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How low does it go?
The MB1 collapses to a very low profile — the tripod base sits close to the floor and the stand height is adjustable down to just a few inches above ground level. This makes it ideal for inside-the-kick-drum placement or mic-ing the bottom of a guitar cab directly on the floor without the mic hanging at an awkward angle.
Can I use it as a regular tall mic stand?
No — the MB1 is designed specifically as a short, low-profile stand with a maximum height of around 19.5 inches. It’s not intended for standing-height vocal or instrument miking. For full-height mic stands, you’ll need a separate standard boom stand.
Is a mic clip included?
Yes — a standard swivel mic clip is included with the rental. It fits any microphone with a body diameter of approximately 3/4″ to 1″. For larger microphones or for use with a shock mount, attach your own clip or shock mount directly to the 5/8″-27 threaded end of the boom arm.
