Lav Recorder Rental Tips
Turn on the safety track at -12 dB before every shoot. If a subject suddenly shouts or levels spike, you’ll have a clean backup track. This one feature makes the DR-10L worth it over any wireless system.
Battery life is rated at 10 hours — but always pack a spare. For weddings or all-day documentary shoots, it’s cheap insurance that could save the entire job.
The DR-10L takes cards up to 32GB. Use a Class 10 or UHS-I card to avoid write errors on long continuous recordings. Cards are not included — bring your own or grab one before your shoot.
Secure the recorder to a waistband or bra strap with the included clip and route the lav cable under clothing. A small piece of moleskin tape under the mic capsule dramatically reduces fabric noise.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does it come with a microSD card?
No — a microSD card is not included. Bring your own (up to 32GB microSDHC). A 32GB card gives you well over 50 hours of recording time at 24-bit/48kHz mono, so you’ll never run out mid-shoot.
Can I use my own lavalier mic?
Yes. The DR-10L uses a 1/8″ screw-lock connector compatible with most Sennheiser lavalier mics and others using the same connector type. If you have a preferred lav, bring it along.
Is this good for wedding audio?
It’s one of the best tools for exactly that. Clip one to the officiant, one to the groom, press record, and walk away. No wireless dropouts, no frequency coordination, no interference — just clean, reliable audio from every person that matters.
How many units can I rent at once?
Contact us to check current availability. Renting multiple units for larger events or wedding parties is very common — we’re happy to accommodate when stock allows.
WAV or MP3 — which should I record in?
Always WAV (or BWF) for professional work. It’s uncompressed and what your editor will expect. MP3 gives more recording time on a smaller card but at reduced quality. If the shoot matters, record WAV.
