Canon’s official adapter preserves complete electronic communication. AF, image stabilization, auto aperture, lens corrections, and EXIF data all work exactly as they would on a DSLR. Third-party adapters often lose some of these features — this one doesn’t.
EF-S lenses (designed for APS-C) will mount and function, but the EOS R will automatically switch to crop mode to avoid the vignetting that would otherwise occur on the larger sensor. You’ll get a cropped image area — this is normal and expected behaviour.
