Description
The PolarPro 77mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer is one of the most useful filters you can put in front of a lens — a must-have for landscape, water, and outdoor photography. It cuts glare off reflective surfaces, deepens blue skies, removes haze, and brings out rich natural colour saturation that no amount of post-processing can fully replicate.
Built with 99.9% pure fused quartz glass in a rugged brass frame, the QuartzLine CPL delivers optical quality well above its price point. Sixteen layers of anti-reflection coating, hydrophobic treatment, and scratch resistance make it a filter you can actually rely on in the field — not just in the studio.

Circular Polarizer Rental Tips
A CPL has the strongest effect when the sun is at a 90° angle to your lens — not when shooting toward or away from it. Point your index finger at the sun and rotate your fist: that sweeping arc shows you the zone of maximum polarization.
The effect changes as you rotate the outer ring — look through the viewfinder or live view and turn slowly until reflections disappear or the sky deepens to the level you want. More rotation isn’t always better; find the sweet spot.
A CPL reduces light reaching the sensor by about 1.3 stops. Your camera’s auto-exposure will compensate automatically, but in manual mode remember to open up slightly or slow your shutter to maintain proper exposure.
Stacking a CPL on top of a variable ND creates a cross-polarization effect that adds a dark X-shaped artifact across the frame. Use a CPL standalone, or swap to a combined ND/CPL filter if you need both effects simultaneously.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will this fit my lens?
This is a 77mm filter — it fits any lens with a 77mm front filter thread. Common 77mm lenses include many Canon 24-70mm, 70-200mm, Nikon 24-70mm, and Sony 16-35mm and 70-200mm lenses. Check the front of your lens barrel or lens cap for the diameter symbol (Ø) followed by the number. If your lens is smaller, a step-up ring can adapt it to 77mm.
Does a CPL affect autofocus?
No — a circular polarizer is specifically designed for use with digital cameras and autofocus systems. Unlike linear polarizers, the circular polarizer adds a quarter-wave plate that ensures metering and autofocus work correctly. This is the right filter for any modern digital camera.
Can I replicate the CPL effect in post?
Not fully. Removing reflections from water, glass, or wet leaves in post-processing is extremely difficult or impossible once the light is already mixed in your image. A CPL captures the scene without those reflections in the first place — it’s the one filter effect that genuinely cannot be added convincingly in Lightroom or Photoshop.
Is it useful for video?
Yes — CPL filters are widely used in video production to remove window reflections, cut glare on interview subjects’ glasses, and deepen outdoor skies. Just be aware the effect can shift during a pan if you’re shooting at an angle to the sun, so lock your rotation before rolling.
